[Bug 384047] Re: on resume from suspend, user logged out
Thank you for the updated information. The intel_reg_dumper output is identical before and after the suspend, which makes me wonder a bit what caused this to happen. Also the error message at the end of your Xorg.0.log does not tell me a whole lot:
(WW) intel(0): drmDropMaster failed: Unknown error 18446744073709551615
There are a couple of tests that I would like you to do, that may (or
may not) shed some more light on this. First, to excluded that it is the
VT switch and not the suspend/resume cycle that causes the bug, could
you verify that it works fine. To do this, just switch VT with
Ctrl+Alt+F2 and back again with Ctrl+Alt+F7. Does this work fine?
The drmDropMaster error message indicates that this has something to do
with drm, which is the kernel module responsible for direct rendering.
There may be some associated messages from the kernel that will show up
in the output of dmesg. Could you upload the output of dmesg before and
after a suspend/resume cycle as well? (the first part of these will be
the same, but having both makes it easy to see what is added during the
suspend/resume)
If this fails to tell us anything we might need some tools from newer
packages. Are you willing to test a newer kernel (I'll tell you how) or
even test the development version of Ubuntu (Karmic)? The newer kernel
will allow us to use a tool to dump the state of the GPU
(intel_reg_dumper only dumps the state of the regular driver). Karmic
may be required to check some other things.
