The bug is still present in upstream's git. I am currently trying to
help the upstream developers to find the cause...

Anyone also experiencing this problem: How is your affected display
connected? What's the native resolution of your affected display? What's
the actual  configured resolution? Does the flickering go away if you
select a lower resolution?
