[Bug 352708] Re: [i915] dualscreen: some screen stays dark after suspend/resume via lid

** Summary changed:

- [i915] external screen stays dark after suspend/resume via lid
+ [i915] dualscreen: some screen stays dark after suspend/resume via lid

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

On Jaunty latest on a Dell Latitude X1 (i915GMS), with an externally
- connected Dell 2405 configured for extended desktop, the external screen
- stays dark after going through suspend/resume.
+ connected Dell 2405, the external (sometimes the internal) screen stays
+ dark after going through suspend/resume via lid close.
+
+ I can mostly recover from the situation by Alt-F1 to shell and
+ restarting GDM. However, things are very weird afterwards. Both gnome
+ panels sits directly on top of each other. Maximizing windows on the
+ external screen result in ~100 pixel wide windows, although the screen
+ has got 1920 pixels and the desktop background spreads to all of those.
+
+ - Suspending via FUSA or pm-suspend instead works as expected.
+ - Turning on "Pipe-A forcing" does not help with the problem.
+ - I have the same issue on Karmic and Non-KMS (either EXA or UXA), but *not* on KMS.
+ - The bug shows up in either extended desktop or mirrored configuration, does not matter.
+ - Kind of related: When I deactivate the external display with screen resolution prefs and close the lid, the external display is briefly activated and used for (extended?) Desktop - why?

This is a regression from Intrepid and Hardy.
