My situation:
Jaunty 32 bit with proposed update
xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2:6:3-0ubuntu9.3 
kernel 2.6.28-13-generic

I enable Compiz and i open the Singapore image into Firefox without system crash.
For me the bug is resolved.
