unfortunately, it didn't work!

this was the way i've tried it:
adding the ppa's, imported the key file
updated the system with update manager
reboot
installed xorg-driver-fglrx with synpatic
terminal: aticonfig --initial
reboot
same error message as always

removed the fglrx driver and restored the xorg.conf
reboot
strange noises coming from the soundboxes
installed fglrx via restricted hardware manager
reboot
same problem as always (will attach the xorg.0.log for this attempt)

removed fglrx and restored the xorg.conf
still strange noises coming from my boxes

the interesting part in the xorg.0.log is:

it definately recognizes the chipset, but says that it is not original ati (what might be true, because it is asus)
asus support told me earlier this week that it might be related to the DEV_ID
is there a possibility to add "my" dev_id to the fglrx? maybe this might work?
is there any information i could gather to help you?
