what do you mean, THIS IS A NEW DRIVER JUST RELEASED MAN, does noone
read what i'm saying, its for ubuntu 8.10 LTS have a look here:

can anyone help me figure out how to make it not screw up and get my
system stable?

its JUST BEEN RELEASED AND IS FOR MY CHIPSET, AND THIS VERSION OF
UBUNTU. IT MUST BE SOMETHING SCREWED UP WITH THE DEFAULT INSTALLING OF
THE DRIVER THOUGH...
