This bug is still reproducible in karmic, it is an UXA issue.
X server seems to crash when log out from KDE session if kdm or xdm are running. The bug is not reproducible if there is not session manager in use.
Currently this bug is reproducible with:
Ubuntu 9.10 (karmic).
xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.7.99.1+git20090602.ec2fde7c-0ubuntu4
