[Bug 677696] Re: Synaptics Touchpad not working in Ubuntu 10.10
@Earl- Thanks for posting the additional logs. I note that the
coldboot log (comment #4) where the Synaptics touchpad doesn't get
recognized does show one different device being recognized: the webcam.
If its possible to disable the webcam in BIOS, it might be interesting
to try doing so (though I'm not very hopeful that will resolve the
problem).
More interesting is the behavior you see from the touchpad enable
F-key... Questions: If you boot Win7 first to enable the touchpad, then
what behavior do you get from the touchpad enable F-key? You may want
to also try using setkeycodes to get the touchpad enable key working (
see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MultimediaKeys ).
In the meantime, I'm going to work on constructing a test kernel with
additional debug information in the psmouse/synaptics driver, to try to
get a handle on why it doesn't get recognized on cold boot.
