[Bug 681564] [NEW] KDE 4.5 effects make screen garbled on Intel GM45

Binary package hint: kde-window-manager

After updating from Kubuntu 10.04 to Kubuntu 10.10, when I logged in
through KDE with Desktop Effects on, my screen would be almost unusable,
completely garbled. I've booted with the kernel from 10.04 (2.6.32) and
it was the same. I've logged in on the gnome desktop with compiz enabled
and everything was working correctly, no screen garbling.

I've also searched through the internet and tried the following lines on
my ~/.kde/share/config/kwinrc:

[Blacklist][Blur]
Intel=Mesa DRI Mobile Intel® GM45 Express Chipset GEM 20100330 DEVELOPMENT x86/MMX/SSE2:-:2.1 Mesa 7.9-devel

[Blacklist][Lanczos]
Intel=Mesa DRI Mobile Intel® GM45 Express Chipset GEM 20100330 DEVELOPMENT x86/MMX/SSE2:-:2.1 Mesa 7.9-devel

But it didn't change anything. I've also tried changing from OpenGL
compositing mode to XRender, it wouldn't stick.

Currently KDE 4.5 would only work with effects disabled.

Release of Ubuntu:
Description:    Ubuntu 10.10
Release:        10.10

apt-cache policy kde-window-manager:

        500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick/main i386 Packages

What I expected to happen: Desktop Effects to work as before in KDE 4.4 with no glitches
What happened instead: I had a garbled screen.
