Oh, I see what the problem is - you have the xorg-edgers version of
xorg-server installed:

Unfortunately, as that's just a git snapshot of upstream's code, it's
not the officially supported xserver for Ubuntu.  For support since
you're using the upstream codebase your issues need to be reported
upstream, at bugs.freedesktop.org.
