Please reopen this bug report as I still have this problem in Ubuntu
10.10, though I have changed the action to "nothing" by gconfedit, it
only affects when I close the lid after login; but if I close the laptop
lid before anyuser login, the computer will hang and never recover after
I open the lid.

Please confirm if this is a problem and if there is any more info you
want, my computer is Dell D400.
