[Bug 392279] [NEW] Gdm/X freezes when activating guest session

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: gdm-guest-session

If i try to activate the guest session (via the fast user switcher
applet or /usr/share/gdm/guest-session/guest-session-launch) it blacks
the screen and starts the guest session with the mouse pointer and the
login jingle...

but with a strange artifact:

http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/8568/20090625161538.jpg

then, before the jingle finishes, it get stuck, and the mouse pointer
disappears (like in the image above), then it goes between black screen
and stuck guest session 3/4 times... and stabilizes to the above
screen...

i tried with: /usr/share/gdm/guest-session/guest-session-launch >&
guestsessionlog

but guestsessionlog contains only:

"OK :20"

this issue appeared with jaunty, intrepid worked fine...

when the guest session is stuck ctrl+alt+f# doesn't work, nor
ctrl+alt+backspace (i disabled dontzap)... ctrl+alt+del instead seems to
reboot fine...

i've attached the dri_debug.tgz obtained through these instructions:
