[Bug 688276] Re: Touchpad functions but not recognized so can't modify it's settings
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 550625 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/550625
The kernel is failing to recognise the touchpad and is falling back to identifying it as a PS2 mouse. This is due to the touchpad/stick using a new protocol. The manufacturer is not releasing the specs so that a free driver can be written.
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/550625
The protocol has been mostly reverse engineered and there is now a fix
involving a patched kernel module, but it isn't completely perfect
(won't do multitouch) and hasn't yet found its way into the mainstream
kernels.
