[Bug 649809] Re: Meerkat (10.10) does not apply theme properly

Thank you for commenting on this bug, there is no need to new comments
to confirm or describe the issue though, what is happening is a race
between the login settings manager and the session one on modern
configurations, now what needs to be done is fro someone writting a fix
to make sure the login settings daemon exists before the session on
starts

** Changed in: gdm (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided => Low

** Changed in: gdm (Ubuntu)
       Status: New => Triaged

** Changed in: gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu)
       Status: Confirmed => Triaged

** Changed in: gdm (Ubuntu)
     Assignee: (unassigned) => Rodrigo Moya (rodrigo-moya)

** Summary changed:

- Meerkat (10.10) does not apply theme properly
+ the session settings manager try starting before the login screen one exits

** Summary changed:

- the session settings manager try starting before the login screen one exits
+ the session settings manager can try starting before the login screen one exits

** Description changed:

- Binary package hint: ubuntu-artwork
-
- After install from the 10.10 beta the new theme does not get applied when the nVidia drivers are used.
- Selecting a theme does only change the titlebar and not the icons or window content.
- The only thing that applies the theme correctly is the theme selector itself.
- Making new users or completely flushing the user folder does not have any effect.
-
- Hardware:
-
- Dell Precision M6500
- - Core i7 (920XM)
- - nVidia Quadro FX 3800M (nVidia driver installed)
+ On recent configurations it can happen that the session settings manager
+ try starting before the login screen one exit leading to "** (gnome-
+ settings-daemon:1941): WARNING **: You can only run one xsettings
+ manager at a time; exiting" warnings and to have no theme set in the
+ session

** Description changed:

- session
+ try starting before the login screen one exit leading to have no theme
+ set in the session (nor other settings gnome-settings-daemon is applying
+ to the user configuration)
+
+ The .xsession-errors log contains that error on configuration hitting the issue:
+ "** (gnome-settings-daemon:1941): WARNING **: You can only run one xsettings manager at a time; exiting"
