Message #109714
[Bug 709486] Re: package nvidia-current 195.36.24-0ubuntu1~10.04 failed to install/upgrade: corrupted filesystem tarfile - corrupted package archive
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error caused by a corrupted
archive. Please execute the following commands, as it will clear your
package cache, in a terminal ( Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal )
:
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get update
Then try performing the update again. This may resolve your issue.
If the above fails to resolve this issue, since according to the actual
log files, the error is different than this report states, you have a
corrupted file system. Please start the "Memory check" from the boot
menu. If that runs successfully, please start the desktop cd. Hold
right-shift key after the bios checks to get to the grub menu and run
"Check disc for errors" option. If the file system corruption is
serious, the safest option would be to reinstall your system.
Thanks in advance!
