[Bug 718020] Re: [i946gz] GPU lockup fc461c49 ()

Given that plymouth doesn't work while booting, it sounds like something
has messed up the GPU early on before X, and then when X gets around to
trying to boot the gpu is in too inconsistent a state and thus craps
out.

The backtrace looks like a memory allocation error of some sort.

Please take a digital photo of the screen and attach.

Elaborate please on what you mean by "Plymouth doesn't work" - does it
just display a blank screen or what? How do you tell it is not working?
Does it fail every time or every Nth time, or just this one time?

Is this a regression? If so, do you still have earlier kernels
installed? Try booting the previous kernel and see if it fails the same
way or not.

If you boot with splash removed from the kernel command line, does it
come up properly?

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

Plymouth doesn't work while booting , Mouse gets stuck . Black colour
lines come in desktop . Unity side panel won't come
