[Bug 374718] Re: calls to glX* functions leak memory

it actually does not fix any problems in fact i think it creates more... i tried using karmic, however it is now totally unusable with fglrx, even using kernel 2.6.30. after about ten to fifteen minutes the memory has become so corrupt that the system is unresponsive and syslog is flooded with errors about how there's a mismatch on kernel map information or something... so for now i've gone back to jaunty, although jaunty still has the memory leaks and after about an hour either the window manager (compiz) crashes or the whole screen hangs but everything else still functions, i.e. sound still works, keys still work, i can click stuff and it does what its supposed to but the screen doesn't update, it stays frozen. on the other hand accelerated video finally works...
oh well, i know this won't get fixed for like eight more version because ati's driver development is awful
