I can confirm this bug using Ubuntu 10.04 on a HP Compaq 6715s with a
Radeon X1200. The screen freezes except the cursor. In tty(x) the above
posted error message keeps rolling. Me as well I had the impression this
was connected to a certain homepage I opened in Firefox, can't be sure
though. I haven't made any upgrades.

Very annoying since the only 'solution' is a brutal restart.
