[Bug 685727] Re: When i upgraded to 10.10 the screen on my laptop(Gateway nv79) went completely black and I could not see anything unless I held a flashlight to the screen to see. The only way I am able to fix this is issue is by doing a system test. But as soon as my laptop goes to sleep it goes back to the black screen. I could not find another fix because once I did the system testing for 10.10 it would not allow me to do the testing again to fix it.

I also have the same problem, i need to hook up an external monitor when
i boot my laptop, I own nv79 with an intel i5 intel 4 ram, iIalso read
this bug description but it doesn't apply to my bug,
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-
intel/+bug/702090. i also read this other discussion
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/705949 and install
the ppa but it doesnt affect the result, i also tried the work around
going to system /power management/ display reducing from 100 percent to
85, but it also didnt work, i also check this other tread
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-
intel/+bug/685727 but i couldnt find a solution there. I also have the
kernel 2.6.35-27 it work fine,, the only problem is the backligth.
sorry for my crappy english Im Mexican
