  It doesn't want to let me reproduce it I'm afraid; I've given it 3 or 4 tries using the same setup and it's either working or the GUI is going completely unresponsive (mouse still moves; typically with the installer window having turned to a solid grey) - in that case ctrl-alt-f1 was working fine; just X hung.

  For the original report it was like as if you move the window but
didn't bother redrawing the background where the window used to be; so
the chunks of old window were still correct - there was no random
corruption type stuff.
