We had a fix go in for gpu lockup bugs recently which may explain why
you haven't seen the lockups lately.  The IPEHR: 0x02000011 looks like a
very commonly reported kernel bug (actually some people are still
reporting it, so it's not clear that it's fully fixed for everyone yet.)

Regarding reusing the ubuntu 10.10 driver, actually the problem is in
the kernel code, most likely, so your implied suggestion would be to go
back to the maverick kernel.  Probably more realistic for you to just
keep using maverick until the issue is fixed.
