[Bug 725434] Re: Nvidia drivers lead to extra memory usage for each process using libGL
I got tired of nouveau freezing my desktop (at least I assume that's
what it was, maybe it's just compiz itself) and downgraded libcairo2 to
the "maverick-updates" version ( http://packages.ubuntu.com/maverick-
updates/libcairo2 ). It's been about an hour and my computer hasn't
exploded yet. I'm using the proprietary Nvidia driver with an onboard
6150SE.
I have 2gb RAM, and contrary to other opinions, it affected my system
very noticeably and forced much swapping whereas none was needed before.
I have a 2.5Ghz dual core (albeit a bit dated) and programs that
normally open instantly were, well, not. Hope this gets fixed soon!
