Message #117954
[Bug 753910] Re: connect to docking station, display mirrors, corrupts
The mirroring is by upstream's design. There's already a blueprint for
evaluating the monitor defaults.
The intended workflow by upstream is that the monitors initially be put
into a "safe" configuration, and then you configure them with gnome-
display-properties to create a ~/.config/monitors.xml file, which gnome-
settings-daemon will automatically apply for you at boot. If that is
not occurring for you and you have to do it manually, that would
probably be a gnome-settings-daemon issue.
For the corruption, you didn't explain the problem fully enough. There
are already bug reports filed about other corruption issues related to
multi-head, however you didn't specify your video card or provide an
Xorg.0.log or anything so I can't even begin to guess. You should
instead file a new bug using `ubuntu-bug xorg`. (Actually seb128 should
have suggested doing that from the start!)
For future reference, please file different issues as separate bug
reports. Bug reports that list a litany of issues make it harder on
developers to help you.
