I just had a patch uploaded a few hours ago that makes sure that the
"capture_before_unmap" key is disabled by default in the metacity
package. It is waiting for approval.

@Colin: as Bill said having some extra information about if the
corruption is still reproducible after that key is set to false would be
helpful to us
