Same issue on my laptop. And it's of the kind which does harm to one's hardware. 
It may overheat the laptop if one doesn't notice or know how to stop the crazy 
syndaemon. Also, I don't quite understand what this daemon does in my system. 
My touchpad is always recognized as a wheel mouse with the scrollbar not working,
so that It still works even ifI disable the "touchpad" in the mouse configuration GUI.
