Well I found this issue with natty because I had a different workaround
on maverick (edited xorg.conf). So I couldn't really tell if this is
natty specific.

When I try to change the resolution with those commands it either:
+ Works as expected
- Screen goes black but programs are still working (I can switch to text-console with Ctrl-Alt-F# and back to the GUI which is a black screen with a mouse that I can move).
- Screen freezes (I think the whole system freezes).

I regret I don't have more information. If it happens again, what should
I do? Are there any logs somewhere I could send?
