[Bug 747685] [NEW] Cannot boot: kernel oops when i915 uses kms
You have been subscribed to a public bug:
Release is Ubuntu 11.04 beta 1
I have a Dell E6500 latitude laptop with two monitors connected via
Display Port. When KMS is enabled, plymouthd aborts during init. The
segfault appears to be in the i915 kernel drm module and there is a
printk regarding display port. If I boot with nomodeset, then X will
start but then xrandr does not work and I can only use one monitor.
I have tried both the ubuntu 11.04 beta1 64-bit desktop and lubuntu
110.4 32-bit beta1 LIVE discs with the same results.
I am currently running ubuntu 10.10 64-bit on the same machine with no
problems. I would like to upgrade but this is obviously not possible as
long as this bug persists.
