you can put this option in /etc/default/grub to make the change permanent
replace following line:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash"

by
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash i915.semaphores=1"
