I reinstalled Ubuntu after I had this problem, and once I did, I never
had it again.  I don't know if this helps resolve the problem , but I
appreciate everyone who took the time to help. Thanks!

  Grapic driver failed on startup and I can't add any software. I get
  the same warning about untrusted packages, and when I hit OK it stops
  downloading.
