[Bug 769911] Re: System freeze after login in 11.04
Completed uninstalled and removed the following:
nvidia-common 0.2.30
nvidia-current 270.41.06-0ubunutu1
xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:0.0.16+git20110107+b795ca6e-0ubuntu7
xserver-xorg-video-nv 1:2.1.17-3ubuntu7
Restarted in recovery mode and dropped into terminal mode with networking.
Ran telinit 3.
Logged in and switched to the directory containing the latest commercial NVidia driver: 256.53
> sudo sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-256.53.run -uninstall results in no driver installed so fine.
> sudo sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-256.53.run complained about nouveau hence why I installed that. Afterwards it seemed to work until it failed to build the kernel module.
Error log from the installer is attached.
