Is the "local" display completely shut off? (no sign of backlight, i.e.
just a bad brightness setting)

Have you tried pushing the key combination for switching between
local/external/combined display a couple of times? (The blue Fn + one of
the F#-keys with monitor[s] next to it)

Have you tried booting without an external display connected?
