Message #13330
[Bug 406045] Re: X Server problem with ATi 9600 XT in Jaunty
My problem is not like the bug #348332.
I cannot boot my ubuntu machine, unlike the others which have freezes
once in a while,
I also tried other distributions (Mandriva 2009.1, Fedora 11, Sabayon
4.1) but the same problem with the X.Org Server occurred.
I can see the boot splash finish it's boot sequence but when it is
supposed to take me to the login screen I am presented with a black
monitor. I tried to boot with "VGA=VESA" but it's the same. But if i
boot a LiveCD of Jaunty with safe graphics mode it boots and is usable.
After I install it, it's not anymore. Now I supposed it was a kernel
issue and I upgraded to the kernel 2.6.30 but I had the same problem.
Now I don't know what to do anymore because I have to boot with the
Hardy kernel in order to boot my machine. I tried Intrepid and it's the
same. I don't really want fancy effects on my machine. I only want to
have my resolutions available and to have EXT4.
It would be great if this would be solved in Karmic.
If I can help, please post here how.
