[Bug 802558] Re: [xorg-edgers] huge performance regression after upgrade

I was also affected by the SNA activation. Same config for me: 11.04 64bit + xorg-edgers ppa + 2.6.39-3 kernel.
I wouldn't say the system was unresponsive but that the display wasn't properly refreshed. ie. typing something in the terminal wasn't slow, it was waiting for me to click on another window or to hit alt-tab etc...

Updating to 3.0 rc5 (following these instructions: http://voices.canonical.com/shang.wu/2011/06/23/how-to-upgrade-kernel-3-0-on-your-ubuntu-natty-system/ ) did not solved everything.

Desktop usage is almost fine on my G620T desktop. Googleearth render is still buggy and even halts.
On my i5-2520 laptop (dell e6420) desktop usage was still so bad that i reverted to the git20110624 version (no SNA).

@clemmy: what is your laptop model ? is everything fixed for you with
3.0-rc4 as you reported on the freedesktop bug ? Ha ve you tried using
googleearth ?

Anyway, as the 2.6.39-3-generic kernel is provided by the xorg-edgers
ppa, I think i could time be to upgrade it as the compatibility with the
latest intel drivers seems broken.
