[Bug 799379] Re: Monitor undected and screen resolution options missing
I found this post on the ubuntu forums:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=10929081&postcount=8 and this
wiki: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Config/Resolution
So I did the following:
used the modelines provided from the edid section of my Xorg.0.log to
create a set of xrandr commands to append the start-up script:
/etc/gdm/Init/Default
however on restart the same old resolution started, but on going to
Menu>Preferences>Monitor the new settings were there so I selected
1280x1024@60Hz and then clicked on the button "make default". On restart
I had my desired screen resolution. (I have no idea how this action
works or why appending the GDM start-up script didn't work.)
Incidentally I got a random monitor detection whilst I was doing this
for a Rogen Tech Distribution Inc 27" monitor...screenshot attached. I
have this on a couple of occassions now. Also a new output for xrandr
--verbose attached.
