Message #135141
[Bug 813581] Re: libdrm-nouveau1a
** Description changed:
I installed the latest nvidia display driver for my GTX-460 video card.
- In order to boot, I need to disable the nouveau model. I do this
- manually by adding:
+ I downloaded the driver from the nvidia site. In order to boot, I need
+ to disable the nouveau kernel module. I do this manually by adding:
"nouveau.modeset=0" to the GRUB kernel boot line.
I am trying to remove the actual nouveau and related packages so that I
need not manually disable at boot time. However, when I attempt to
remove the "libdrm-nouveau1a" package using Synaptic, I am asked to mark
well over a hundred packages for removal. If these packages were
removed it would render the system unusable. Some examples of the
packages that will be removed:
acpi-support
agave
aisleriot
alsa-base
apparmor
compiz
cron
evolution
gdm
many of the X related binaries
update-manager
Something is either wrong with the package dependency check or half the
system lists "libdrm-nouveau1a" as the only dependent package.
Anyway, how can I remove this "libdrm-nouveau1a" package?
