I've worked around this by increasing my framebuffer size in the BIOS to
256MB (doesn't fix the problem, but basically allows me to open more
windows than I could previously before the problem kicks in)

I can live with this until nVidia fixes this issue as I normally don't
have enough windows open simultaneously to induce the white window of
death.
