Is your Touchpad completely dead?
Anyway, this bug should be documented so we can investigate the problem, to do so, please the following command from your Terminal(You can start Terminal by Ctrl+Alt+T): 'apport-collect 831960'(Without quotes :D)
@Timo: I had no problem running evtest from within X running ;)
