[Bug 867840] [NEW] Unplugging the external monitor corrupts the laptop screen

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I often plug an external monitor into the laptop. When i plug the
monitor in, everything works as expected. When i plug it out, my laptop
screen often gets corrupted (i will take a picture with my phone next
time it happens), though i can mostly fix the issue by going to console
(CTRL+ALT+F1) and switching back to X (ALT+F7). Other times, this does
not work, but replugging the monitor and unplugging it again does.
