[Bug 873475] Re: (nvidia/oneiric, macbook pro) No graphical plymouth shown during boot or shutdown with uvesafb
>From the logs and configuration, this appears to be an issue with
uvesafb and the nvidia driver not playing nicely on your system (or
maybe just uvesafb not playing nicely on its own). Since as you've
mentioned on IRC you also don't get any console output either, this is
not a plymouth problem per se (but thank you for filing it here
nevertheless, as that gives us useful data to work with).
I'm reassigning to linux+nvidia-graphics-drivers; I think the bug is
probably on the uvesafb side but can't be sure.
A few things that you might try:
- set GRUB_TERMINAL_OUTPUT=console (or GRUB_TERMINAL_OUTPUT=ofconsole) in /etc/default/grub
- set GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=text in /etc/default/grub
- set both at the same time
- pass video=efifb instead of video=uvesafb (may not work anyway because CONFIG_FB_EFI is set to 'y' in the kernel config, not to 'm'...?)
