[Bug 777279] [NEW] resolution settings lost after May 4 update

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

After a fresh reinstall of Natty yesterday, all settings worked perfect
with no need to use the proprietary ATI Catalyst drivers, the monitors
were detected accurately.

Today I did an update to whatever Ubuntu recommended, and now Xorg only
seems to detect one of the monitors correctly, the other one is set at a
max 1024x768

my setup is dual head, ATI 3200 HD on-board, both monitors are Samsung 226BW 1680x1050
I have opted to use Ubuntu classic GUI, not Unity.

BTW, I had to do the reinstall because after trying to rotate one of
them yesterday, using Catalyst, I lost resolution settings, and then
after using aticonfig to tweak settings I lost all access to my system.
Then, after reinstall, I was very happy that Natty allowed me by
default, using System, Preferences, Monitor (without the additional
drivers) to set my dual head perfectly - but that was yesterday, today
only one is at its proper resolution.

Thank you, guys, dual head has always been a problem for me, now we seem
to be almost there! I really appreciate all your hard work.
