[Bug 882232] Re: window-switcher confused as to location of awakened-window
** Description changed:
Gnome 3 environment.
open a terminal.
launch some pdf.: evince test.pdf
Now move evince window it to another space (ctrl-alt-rightarrow)
now have a look at which windows the manager thinks are on this workspace: alt-tab. There should be just your terminal.
now relaunch the pdf:
evince test.pdf
Nothing visible happens, since the window is on another workspace.
- But look at what the manager thinks: press alt-tab and you will see that the new window is apparently on the current workspace. really? so try to pick it. ie alt-tab until you choose it. now it's in focus. but invisible. This is rong: Either it should not be listed on this workspace, or we should move to it if we select it with the window switcher.
+ But look at what the manager thinks: press alt-tab and you will see that the new window is apparently on the current workspace. really? so try to pick it. ie alt-tab until you choose it. What happens? Nothing! Your focus doesn't change. Your workspace doesn't change. to where that window really is. This is rong: Either it should not be listed on this workspace, or we should move to it (and it should come into focus) if we select it with the window switcher.
It remains in the alt-tab listing until we visit it where it really is
(alt-ctrl-righarrow) and come back.
(I think this is bad behaviour. I have a makefile that creates and
launches a pdf, but I want it to stay on another workspace, and I want
to be able to switch between my two windows on my main workspace. So
this phantom window gets in the way, and unexpectedly.)
