[Bug 872858] Re: Can't boot Ubuntu - Black Screen - Probably drivers?
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command in a terminal after
reproducing the issue (i.e. with fglrx uninstalled), and it it will
automatically gather debugging information needed for this bug:
apport-collect 872858
Glad to hear that manually installing fglrx worked around it for you.
This suggests the problem may be something to do with the radeon kernel
drm driver, although since you saw the purple screen it could also be a
flaw in the -radeon X driver. I'll assume the latter for now and file
it there while we wait for your information.
** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => xserver-xorg-video-ati (Ubuntu)
** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-ati (Ubuntu)
Status: New => Incomplete
