This issue is still valid IMHO. I was only able to fix it by doing the
following hack:
* renaming /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so to /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so.backup
* creating a link /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so --> /usr/lib/nvidia-current/xorg/libglx.so
Apparently, Xorg is not honoring nvidia drivers. i tried several fixes
proposed in forums, such as blacklisting nouveau (I even removed it
completely), but Xorg loads the incorrect GLX module at startup, no
matter how hard I tried to point it to the nvidia driver in xorg.conf
