[Bug 868400] Re: Synaptics touchpad stops working
I'm getting the same error (touching the touchpad = mouse going crazy -
it eventually settles in the top right corner and is unresponsive to
either clicks or movement, and none of the above work arounds have
worked for me.
I've noticed, however, that if I plug in a USB mouse after the bug
occurs, I can move the pointer freely, but the system refuses to
recognise any mouse clicks, whether from the USB mouse or the touchpad.
If I plug in a USB mouse before the error occurs, it works fine until I
touch the touchpad, then the above occurs.
In case it helps, I've also been unable to disable the touchpad through
any ubuntu settings (including dconf), whether for when typing, or just
turning the damn thing off altogether. The function key combo, which is
built into the laptop, does work however.
Also, this bug was occurring randomly when first installed (every second
or third reboot had it occurring), but since I ran all the latest
updates, it now occurs every single time from the first touch of the
touchpad.
