There is some confusion here, because this bug tracks two issues.

* The "??" issue. It doesn't happen for me in Karmic. Can somebody
confirm this?

* The locking issue when unplugging an external keyboard. This problem
persists for me in Karmic. Can somebody please confirm, then we'll file
a separate bug report for that.
