It's almost certainly not a firefox issue, but a problem with UXA or
DRI2 in the new intel graphics driver.  See Bug 422072, where the
reporter had similar text corruption problems with gnome-terminal as
well as firefox.

I only have adblock plus, noscript and flashblock extensions.  None of
those _should_ be at issue here.  At any rate, running in safe mode
would be pointless right now as I don't know of anything specific to
trigger the errant behavior.
