[Bug 282939] Re: gnusound crashes X session immediately on launch (Affects Intrepid, Jaunty, Karmic)

If it helps I can confirm that GNUsound (Ubuntu 9.04; I cannot handle
those complicated names) crashes my X session when launched from the
menu but NOT when started inside a shell (without any options; maybe the
launcher menu specifies some). GNUsound itself, however, crashes after
saying

*** buffer overflow detected ***: /usr/bin/gnusound.real terminated

I am attaching the output as a text file. Most of it seems to go
directly to /dev/tty; if I redirect stdout and stderr only 1026 resp.
735 bytes are caught, while the complete output is 6843 bytes.
