I have forwarded this bug to the intel developers at
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24076 . Please subscribe to
the upstream bug report so that you may answer any questions they might
have and test any solutions that they propose. You will most likely be
asked to test a patch to mesa at some point. If you need help building a
custom version in ubuntu, please ask here.

It is also quite possible that they will ask you to test a more recent
development snapshot of mesa to see if this bug already has been fixed
there. The version currently in Karmic is a development snapshot taken
on Aug 17. For this you may use the xorg-edgers PPA which makes it easy
to test the latest development versions of xorg-components:
https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa .
