[Bug 436902] [NEW] Display properties hangs X when detecting monitors
You have been subscribed to a public bug:
Binary package hint: gnome-control-center
Plugging in a new monitor and then attempting to open display properties
or opening display properties, then plugging in a new monitor and
clicking on the detect displays button results in a blank screen.
kern.log then gets flooded with these messages
[ 720.641063] INFO: task i915/1:695 blocked for more than 120 seconds.
[ 720.641071] "echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/hung_task_timeout_secs" disables this message.

This repeats indefinitely.
My best guess is that display properties is creating an incorrect
display size after detecting the new monitor. In my case it is a
1280x800 14" laptop screen and 1680x1050 19" monitor.
