reproduction with xorg-edgers mesa 7.7.0~git20090928.d492e7b0-0ubuntu0tormod on same hardware as original report is a mixed bag:
one time it turns but updates the screen reluctantly, sometimes on mouse over. see rotating.fragments.png
one time stuck. needs altGr+print+K
next it works perfectly
next it really really freezes. not even REISUO works.
